Bodybuilders Urs Kalecinski and Jay Cutler tackled a hypertrophy-inducing chest workout together. Although they belong to different generations of bodybuilders, work ethic, commitment and hard work bind both men together.

Urs Kalecinski is a young and dynamic competitor from Germany. He is a top contender in the Classic Physique division of the IFBB Pro League. Kalecinski emerged as a serious threat in the division when he walked away with a fourth-place finish at his Olympia debut in 2021. He had a successful competitive season in 2022 that concluded with a podium finish at the 2022 Olympia.

The 25-year-old made a quick turnaround to stake claim to the 2023 Arnold Classic Physique title. Unfortunately, ‘The Miracle Bear’ suffered from a serious case of food poisoning a few days before the contest but still managed to pull off a runner-up finish. Kalecinski plans to have an excellent showdown at the 2023 Olympia and he’s training hard to prepare for it.

Back was the weakest part of his physique but the German bodybuilder has brought it at par and continues to pay attention to it. A few weeks ago, Kalecinski was tipping the scale at 275 lbs and revealed that he had to cut 26 lbs for the 2023 Olympia.

Recently, he trained chest with bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler for a chest workout. Cutler is a four-time Mr. Olympia and one of the most prominent voices in the sport of bodybuilding. He retired from competition in 2013 but has maintained an excellent physique a decade on.

The retired bodybuilder took up the ‘Fit at 50’ challenge about a year ago and followed a strict diet, cardio and training routine to transform his physique. Having achieved the goal on his 50th birthday, Cutler has now training even harder.

Urs Kalecinski and Jay Cutler go through a chest workout

During his visit to Romania to attend the 2023 Master’s Olympia, Urs Kalecinski joined hands with bodybuilding legend Jay Cutler for a chest workout. The duo trained chest late in the night. ‘The Miracle Bear’s competition prep is going as planned. Kalecinski had a busy competitive schedule in 2022 where he started with the 2022 Arnold Classic with a third-place finish at the 2022 Arnold Classic before winning the 2022 Boston Pro and the Kuwait Classic Pro.

He then went on to compete at the 2022 Olympia and the 2023 Arnold Classic in a short span of time. The German bodybuilder has been focusing on training since then without the pressure of getting ready for the next show. He admitted to Cutler that having a little bit of time off after the 2023 Arnold Classic helped him tremendously in rejuvenating for the prep.

The duo pushed each other throughout the workout and got the best work done from each other. The video of this session was posted on Urs Kalecinski’s personal YouTube channel. So let’s follow the bodybuilding aces along and see how they trained their massive chests.

Machine Chest Press

The duo left free weights out of the equation and trained with machines for this session. They started the workout with the machine chest press to fire up the chest and performed a few straight sets of the exercise. Kalecinski performed a drop set to push beyond failure as the training partners moved on to the next exercise.

Incline Chest Press Machine

Kalecinski and Cutler took to the incline chest press machine next to stimulate the upper pecs. They used the Hoist plate-loaded Incline chest press for the exercise and used it to get the most out of their training session.

Incline Cable Chest Flyes

After working through the pressing movements, the training partners shifted their focus to working on adding detail and muscle definition to their body. To do this, they performed the Incline chest flyes using a cable machine. Cable machines keep the muscles under tension throughout the range of motion. This extended time under tension helps bring about hypertrophy and muscle definition more effectively.

Kalecinski and Cutler got a few solid sets of this movement under the belt. Following this, the duo tackled the final exercise of the day.

Technogym Chest Press Machine

The bodybuilding aces wrapped up the training session after cranking out some heavy sets of chest presses. They used the Technogym chest press machine for the exercise. Both men took their turns at the exercise and pushed each other to get the most out of this exercise in the concluding part of the workout.

Overall, the workout the included:

  • Machine Chest Press
  • Incline Chest Press Machine
  • Incline Cable Chest Flyes
  • Technogym Chest Press Machine

Jay Cutler and Urs Kalecinski are on completely different life trajectories. However, both of them are working hard to achieve their goals and may very well achieve them sooner than later.
