Tia-Clair Toomey Finished Second Overall Following A 22.3 CrossFit Open Workout Performance 

Tia-Clair Toomey is aiming for a historic 2022 CrossFit Season.

The reigning 5x Fittest Woman on Earth®, Tia-Clair Toomey, had the honor to announce the first Open Workout of the season. The 2022 CrossFit Open represents the first round of qualifying for this year’s CrossFit Games, and it consists of three workouts. The third and final workout, which is the 22.3 Open Workout, was announced on March 10, 2022, in Tennessee. The video submissions have been reviewed and the results are in. Tia-Clair Toomey finished in the overall second place of 2022 Open, after posting an amazing performance in 22.3. 

Tia-Clair Toomey Full Results:

With 8 points (Lower points are ranked higher), Tia-Clair Toomey earned a second-place finish in the 2022 CrossFit Open. Only Mal O’Brien placed higher with a score of 5 points.

  • 22.1 – 375 reps (5th)
  • 22.2 – 7:05 minutes (1st)
  • 22.3 – 4:12 minutes (2nd)

2022 CrossFit Open Workout 22.3

Time cap: 12 minutes

For time:

  • 21 Pull-ups
  • 42 Double-unders
  • 21 Thrusters (weight 1)
  • 18 Chest-to-bar-pull-ups
  • 36 Double-unders
  • 18 Thrusters (weight 2)
  • 15 Bar muscle-ups
  • 30 Double-unders
  • 15 Thrusters (weight 3)

Male – 95 lbs -115 lbs – 135 lbs

Female – 65 lbs – 75 lbs – 85 lbs

Despite carrying some excess weight from the bobsled season, Tia-Clair Toomey is still amongst the greatest performers in the 2022 CrossFit. Tia-Clair has also not had much time to prepare, as she hoped to be invited to the Australian team for the 2022 Beijing Olympics. For approximately 6 months, she only focused on bobsled and neglected the CrossFit training. However, Tia-Clair Toomey’s 22.3 Open Workout Result was 4:12, which is just one second slower than the event and overall winner, Mal O’Brien.

“Looking back at it, I think I could have gone a little faster… The Open. It allowed me to find myself again, especially coming back from a different sport and facing different challenges… The Open was a really great reminder of how much I love CrossFit.”

Road To Finals 

This could be the year that Tia-Clair Toomey claims the greatest accomplishment in the sport yet. She is chasing for her sixth CrossFit Games title, which would make her the athlete with the most wins in history. Tia-Clair and her coach, Shane Orr, have talked about their plans for the 2022 Season in a YouTube video recently. They already knew that she would succeed in the Open and started planning for the future.

The next step of qualifying will be the CrossFit Quarterfinals, which will take place from March 24th to April 24th. Only 10% of athletes from each continent will get the chance to compete in the Online Quarterfinals.

300 athletes will then move on to the CrossFit Semifinals, which is the last filter before the most prestigious competition in CrossFit. The Semifinals will take place from May 20th to June 12th, 2022. The format of the competition will be 10 separate competitions across 6 different continents.

The end goal for every athlete this year is the 2022 CrossFit Games, which will take place from August 3-7, in Madison, Wisconsin. However, only 40 athletes who were the best in previous qualifying rounds will get to compete for the title of Fittest On Earth.
