Many believe abs are created in the kitchen or by training, but a United Kingdom-based man challenged those presumptions by getting a six-pack of abs tattooed on his stomach. In a viral video shared on Instagram, artist Dean Gunther showed off his client’s new set of washboard abs courtesy of his tattoo skills.

At first glance, it’s easy to forget how much work and dedication goes into achieving a six-pack of abs. With summer on its way in a few months, people of all ages are eager to build their best beach bodies. Whether it’s a strict diet or an arduous workout, building a respectable midsection can be a daunting task.

Dean Gunther is the owner of the Colour Realism Tattoos shop in the UK. Recently, his artistry skills were put to the test by a customer who requested an obscure design. Specifically, the client asked him to ink a full six-pack of abs on his stomach. To begin the process, the tattoo artist mapped out his initial design on the man’s belly in blue ink.

Dean Gunther Reflects on Crafting Viral Ab Tattoo for UK Man

In an interview with Caters New Agency, tattoo artist Gunther discussed the odd request.

“It’s been one of my most unusual requests,” Dean Gunther said.

According to Gunther, the unnamed customer requested the strange tattoo because he didn’t want to modify his diet or achieve ab development through conventional exercise.

“He always wanted to have a six-pack, but he’s not too keen on going to the gym or doing a diet,” he explained. “So, he decided that by getting a six-pack tattoo, he will always look summer ready while still being able to enjoy beer and good food.”

Overall, Gunther was happy with the design, and explained that he was trying to go for a more realistic look over the course of the two-day procedure.

“I decided to take on this challenge and do it completely differently,” Gunther said.

In response to the man’s tattoo, the comment section lit up with bystanders giving their reactions.

“Definition of work smarter, not harder,” wrote one person.

“Brazilian ab lift,” an onlooker replied.

“He should get Brad Pitt’s face tattooed on his face,” said another.

“Then what happened if he work out and getting the real 6 pack? He got 12 pack?” asked another user.

“IMAGINE YOU GO HOME WITH SOMEONE AND THEY REMOVE THEIR SHIRT AND ITS THIS” replied another onlooker.

The last time a six-pack made headlines, singer Jessie James Decker received backlash after fans accused her of photoshopping abs on her kids’ bodies. Looking back on the viral moment, Decker was taken aback by the accusations. She categorically denied allegations that she used computer software to modify their images. She hopes moving forward that people are more accepting of all body types, irrespective of fitness levels.
