Nicolaas du Preez is continuing to up the ante in the gym by breaking his PRs, and he certainly knows how to impress his fans. Preez still has four weeks to further improve his technique before he steps on the platform to compete at the 2022 RPC Elite Raw powerlifting competition, which will take place on May 14th, in Pretoria, South Africa. Nicolaas is hoping to put on a stellar performance, and judging by his recent squat session, it is very likely that he will surprise everyone. On April 18th, 2022, Nicolaas posted a new 909 lbs (412.5 kg) squat PR double on his Instagram.

Nicolaas du Preez usually competes in the raw w/wraps category, so he used knee wraps, wrist wraps, and a lifting belt to aid him in the lift. This does not make the lift any less impressive, as he absolutely crushed both reps and didn’t struggle on either one.

Nicolaas du Preez’s previous two rep squat PR was 410 kg (903.9 lbs) from March 2021. He is also just slightly lighter this time, as his bodyweight at the time of the new PR came out to 125 kg (275 lbs).

“Everything’s feeling good. Quite excited to get on the platform.”

Nicolaas du Preez also shared his warm-up for the 412.5 kg (909 lbs) squat on his Instagram story. He was only doing singles and started by loading the bar with 80 kg (176.4 lbs). For each following rep, Nicolaas added 50 kg (110 lbs) more on the bar. His final warm-up was a rapid single with 380 kg (837.8 lbs).

Nicolaas du Preez Competition PRs:

  • Squat (wraps): 420 kg (925.9 lbs) (2021 WPC-SA Power Wars)
  • Bench Press (raw): 245 kg (540.1 lbs) (2021 WPC-SA Power Wars)
  • Deadlift (raw): 385 kg (848.7 lbs) (2019 WPC-SA Power Wars)
  • Total (raw w/wraps): 1030 kg (2270.7 lbs) (2019 WPC-SA Power Wars)

Heading into the 2022 RPC Elite Raw, Nicolaas du Preez looks capable of beating all of his current competition PRs. Just in the last 7 days, he has comfortably squatted 412.5 kg (909 lbs) for two reps, bench pressed 255 kg (562.2 lbs) for an easy single, and deadlifted 385 kg (848.7 lbs) for two reps. This means that we can expect him to set one of the heaviest Raw W/Wraps Totals in the World, which could be in the range of 1100 kg (2425 lbs).
