The competition is heating up as bodybuilders enter the next stage of their preps for the 2023 Mr. Olympia competition. Nick Walker and Derek Lunsford shared recent physique updates on Instagram only five weeks away from taking the stage.

Nick Walker’s professional bodybuilding career has been meteoric and unforgettable. In 2021, he earned consecutive wins at the New York Pro and Arnold Classic which launched him straight into his debut Mr. Olympia competition, where he placed fifth. The next time he stepped on the Olympia stage fans saw him improve and move up two spots taking third just below champion Hadi Choopan and runner-up Derek Lunsford.

Throughout his prep, Nick Walker has been as confident as ever despite feeling overlooked by his fellow competitors and has kept to a rigorous workout routine to ensure he maintains his reputation as one of the best of his era. His last competition saw him take second place in a close-fought battle with Samson Dauda at the 2023 Arnold Classic.

Derek Lunsford Shows Off Washboard Abs in 2023 Olympia Update

Derek Lunsford was the 212 Olympia champion in 2021. In 2022, there were suspicions that Derek was contemplating a move to the Men’s Open division. Derek Lunsford guest posed in Pittsburg in 2022 which blew fans away because he wasn’t outsized against top-notch competitors like Brandon Curry, Walker, and Hunter Labrada.

After impressing fans with his guest posing appearance, Olympia offered him a special invite to compete in the Men’s Open shortly thereafter. When Derek Lunsford stepped on the 2022 Mr. Olympia stage he exceeded expectations and came in second. Now Lunsford is a front-runner for this year’s Olympia and plans to bring a delicate balance of symmetry and conditioning with him.

Derek Lunsford shared his enthusiasm for this year’s competition in his recent physique update on Instagram.

“Now, it’s GAME ⭕️N!! 💪
👉 5.5 weeks” Lunsford shared.

After sharing the exciting news that he is expecting a baby in 2024, Lunsford is feeling added pressure to win this year’s Olympia. Lunsford believes he will have what it takes to dethrone his teammate, the reigning champion Hadi Choopan, and leave his peers Nick Walker and Samson Dauda fighting for third and fourth place.

Lunsford has attacked this prep in a comprehensive manner, utilizing a strict diet and exercise plan that has little room for leeway. Determined to stay in impeccable shape, Derek Lunsford has been focused on building an even fuller chest as well as keeping up his lower body.
