There are only 12 weeks until bodybuilding’s biggest show of the year and Nick Walker isn’t taking chances on his preparations. In a recent Instagram post, it was confirmed that Walker and his former coach Matt Jansen have teamed up once again following a massive physique update at Revive Gym.

Last year, “The Mutant” turned in one of the most successful rookie seasons the IFBB Pro League has ever seen. Under the guidance of coach Matt Jansen, he claimed the 2021 New York Pro title and then won his Arnold Classic debut a few months later. On top of those two achievements, Walker earned fifth place at 2021 Mr. Olympia.

In February, it was revealed by Jansen that he was no longer working with Walker. It’s unclear exactly why the two separated, but some have suggested that Jansen told Walker he needed time off after such a busy 2021. Initially, Walker wanted to defend his Arnold Classic title in Ohio, though ultimately sided with his former coach’s request of taking the extra time to bulk up during the off-season.

Additionally, others have noted supplement sponsorships may have played a role in Walker and Jansen’s split. Jansen is a part-owner to the RAW and Revive supplement brands. After Nick moved to Florida and separated from Jansen, he also left behind those sponsorships. At the time of this publication, it’s unclear if there will be conflicting issues as Walker is now signed by Fouad Abiad’s supplement brand Hosstile.

Months following their friendly separation, the 28-year-old enlisted the help of Dominick Mutascio, well known as Dom Supersliced, to help him prepare for his second-ever Mr. Olympia show. And while the two shared some synergy during training sessions, Walker feels at “home” again under the tutelage of Matt Jansen.

Time is running out for Walker and Jansen as 2022 Mr. Olympia is rapidly approaching. During the off-season, Walker has trained non-stop and kept his midsection tight. He’s been hovering around 300 pounds for months, showcasing a number of intense training videos.

Nick Walker doesn’t mind training with his potential competition. This season Nick worked with former 212 Olympia champion Kamal Elgargni. He’s also pumped iron with reigning 212 Olympia winner Derek Lunsford, who received a special invitation to compete in the Open class at 2022 Mr. Olympia. In addition, Nick got some work in with Brandon Curry. The two teamed up in August to build shoulders together.

Jansen and Walker will be tasked with not only improving from last year but trying to knock Big Ramy off his throne. Winter is coming and the two-time reigning Mr. Olympia has kept fans updated on his progress. The Egyptian native revealed that he’s weighing 337.7 pounds heading into the meat of his preparations.

According to Jansen, there’s work to be done. With Jansen once again coaching Walker, fans are in for an epic showdown at 2022 Mr. Olympia.
