Michal Krizo has arrived on American soil in hopes of conquering the bodybuilding world. Krizo is a Slovakian professional bodybuilder that made a name for himself in the IFBB Elite Pro League. Since transitioning to the NPC earlier this year to start the Olympia campaign, Krizo’s prospects have intrigued the bodybuilding experts like 4-time Mr. Olympia winner Jay Cutler and fans alike.

After claiming the IFBB Pro card with a dominant win at the 2022 Amateur Olympia Italy, Krizo emerged victoriously at the 2022 EVLS Prague Pro and secured a direct qualification to the 2022 Olympia. His quick rise has triggered rivalries with fellow Open division bodybuilders like Blessing Awodibu who welcomed Krizo to the ‘a** whooping league’ upon earning the Pro card. Iain Valliere and Krizo had a bit of a back and forth on social media and Krizo has promised to show the Canadian ‘what bodybuilding is’ at the 2022 Olympia.

Krizo is working hard to start building his legacy on the grandest stage of bodybuilding. The 2022 Olympia will take place from Dec. 15 to 18 in Las Vegas, Nevada and Krizo has moved his training camp to the USA ahead of the show. Upon arrival, he went through a short leg workout at the Mecca of bodybuilding – the Gold’s gym in Venice Beach California. He went through the training session with extreme focus and avoided ego lifting. So without further delay, let’s take a look at how Krizo annihilated his legs.

Michal Krizo goes through a leg workout

Michal Krizo’s leg workout focused on working the quadriceps. By developing quad strength, you will be able to produce explosive energy, which is beneficial for lifts like barbell squats and deadlifts. Additionally, strong quadriceps facilitate functional movements such as running, sprinting, and jumping.

Michal Krizo’s leg workout focused on working the quadriceps. Developing quad strength helps build explosive energy which helps in bigger lifts like barbell squats and deadlifts. Additionally, strong quads help with functional movements like running, sprinting and jumping.

In this short training session, Krizo included two variations of hack squats to fire up the quads. This movement uses a piece of equipment that loads the weight on the shoulders like a typical barbell squat. However, as the weights move along a fixed trajectory, the role of stabilising muscles like back and core is eliminated. This helps put more emphasis on the quadriceps and also helps reduce the chances of injury.

Michal Krizo started with the horizontal hack squats and performed a few fruitful sets on a selectorized machine. Following this, he switched to the standard hack squats and performed some solid sets on a plate-loaded machine to add more stimulus to the muscles. The 32-year-old did not mention the rep range and number of sets performed in this workout.

Overall, the workout included:

  • Horizontal Hack Squats
  • Hack Squats

The 2022 Olympia will be the biggest competitive challenge of Michal Krizo’s professional bodybuilding career so far. For a newcomer, the prospect of defeating a pro like Mamdouh ‘Big Ramy’ Elssbiay, the reigning champion in the division is a steep mountain to climb. However, the 32-year-old has already proven to be a top contender in making. He has looked nothing short of amazing in the recent physique updates as well. The Olympia weekend will kick off in less than a month’s time. Until then, there are still some finishing touches Krizo needs to do to the physique and work on veteran bodybuilder Samir Bannout’s advice. Where do you think he will rank at this year’s Olympia? Let us know in the comments section.
