Acting Career

Kellan Lutz started his career with recurring small roles in series like Model Citizens, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation etc. And also worked in movies like Prom Night in the 2000s. During this time, the 38-year-old actor also appeared in several music videos and TV series but did not get a breakthrough role that could give him the recognition.

However, things took a huge turn when Kellan was cast as a werewolf Emmett Cullen in the Twilight film series based on Stephanie Meyer’s novels of the same name. Kellan Lutz Workout

Kellan Lutz is the hardest worker in the room and he takes great pride in training regularly without falling off the training routine. Lutz prefers to go hard at his training routine and believes in giving it all in the training without holding back as if there is no tomorrow. Kellan Lutz incorporates a lot of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) and supersets to increase the aerobic intensity of the workout. Supersets are an effective way of putting in more work in a relatively short amount of time.

It involves doing sets of two different exercises one after the another. So instead of doing all the sets of exercise A and then doing exercise B, you do one set of exercise A and follow it up with one set of exercise B and repeat the process until all the sets are complete. The rest periods are usually shorter and that results in overall reduced workout time and an increased aerobic intensity of the workout.

However, to prepare for his role as Hercules, Kellan Lutz followed a paleo diet which means a diet that our pre-agriculture ancestors consumed to sustain themselves. Simply put, the diet consists only of meats, fruits, fresh vegetables and not processed foods, sugars or even dairy products of any sort.

Kellan Lutz is similar to most of us in one aspect – He did not like salads when he got on a healthy diet. However, salads have a ton of health benefits that are simply undeniable. The Twilight Saga actor eventually learned to like salads. In one of his interviews, Kellan Lutz told that he was fortunate to have Hercules filmed in Bulgaria as the country has plenty of fresh produce and good quality vegetables.

Quitting sugar

Kellan Lutz had to let go of his sugar cravings while preparing for the character of Greek God Poseidon. It was not an easy choice as Lutz had to let go of many favorite things like chocolate bars, gummy bears and desserts. However, the Greek God managed to let go of the mortal cravings and make healthy eating a core value of his lifestyle.
