Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Joseph Baena on a bodybuilding stage. In a recent video shared by the InsideFighting YouTube channel, Baena opened up on his acting/fitness goals for 2023 and said he’s pushing himself to get a ‘superhero body.’

Baena bears a striking resemblance to his father, Arnold Schwarzenegger. While Joseph has yet to compete as a bodybuilder, many have wondered about his potential considering Schwarzenegger’s success. While forging one of the greatest all-time bodybuilding résumés, Arnold claimed a total of seven Mr. Olympia titles (1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975 1980).

Over the past few years, Baena has sought out a career in acting. Some of his recent projects include Terminator 2 Remake with Joseph Baena, Bad to the Bone (2016), Chariot (2022), and Bully High (2022). In addition to these endeavors, Baena has taken part in a number of podcasts. He joined Bradley Martyn’s Raw Talk a few months ago, where he addressed living in his father’s shadow. According to Baena, fitness helped set him on the right path.

Even though he’s not competing professionally, Baena takes a comprehensive approach to training. In the past, he’s joined bodybuilding veterans Mike O’Hearn and Robby Robinson for training as well as detailed posing lessons. Speaking in a recent interview, the 25-year-old made it clear he’s building a ‘superhero body’ to propel his acting career.

Baena opened the discussion by sharing that he’s building the physique he’s always wanted.

“Well I think the main thing is that I’m building a physique that I’ve always wanted. I’m training really hard. Yeah, I love growing. I love pushing myself every day and I want to get that superhero body; I want to play a superhero one of these days. Yeah, absolutely.”

He stressed that he’s currently “pursuing his acting career as hard as possible.”

“Yeah, Terminator, you name it. I want to be a leading man in a movie. I’m pursuing this acting career as hard as possible and that’s what we’re doing,” says Joseph Baena.

When discussing a potential career in bodybuilding, Baena expressed interest in a future show, but steered away from Olympia, adding that he doesn’t ‘want to get that big.’

“Oh, man, I don’t know if I want to get that big. I don’t know if I want to get that big. I don’t think – not right now. Maybe a bodybuilding competition in the future, but I don’t think I’ll take it as far as Mr. Olympia, but we’ll see, you never know.”

Despite an overwhelming interest in acting, Joseph refused to completely dismiss a bodybuilding venture.

Whether it’s a simple fresh diet or ‘Arnold-style’ training sessions, Baena is committed to achieving his new physique. In 2023, Baena hopes to secure his first lead role in a superhero movie.

He says he wants to make it on his own without his dad’s help but he’s sure done a great job in making sure everyone knows he’s Schwarzenegger’s son. Typical Hollywood nepotism
