Jonathan Cayco (93 kg) Scores Two Raw Unofficial IPF World Records at 2022 AMP Classic Open Nationals

Jonathan Cayco bench pressed 240.5 kg (530 lbs) and totaled 888 kg (1957.5 lbs) to Unofficially beat IPF World Records.

The 2022 AMP Classic Open Nationals contest took place from March 01-03, in Austin, Texas. The competition gathered some of the world’s greatest athletes, but Jonathan Cayco had the most notable performance. Cayco won the raw 93 kg weight class by a significant margin, claimed two American Records, and unofficially beat two IPF World Records.

Jonathan Cayco’s Full Performance 

Jonathan Cayco weighed in at 92.2 kg (204.5 lbs) coming into this competition. He was successful in all his attempts, which extended his streak and also explains why he is called “Mr. Perfect”. Cayco has gone 9/9 in his last 5 competitions, which is a really fascinating achievement. 

Jonathan Cayco’s first American record of the competition came in the bench press event, having lifted 240.5 kg (530 lbs). It is also an Unofficial IPF World Record, as he pressed 2.5 kg (5.5 lbs) more than the current IPF’s best lift. The IPF record is also held by Cayco, and he set it at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Following impressive performances in all three events, Jonathan Cayco totaled 888 kg (1957.5 lbs). This is better than the current 873 kg (1924.6 lbs) IPF World Record Total, which was also set by  Cayco at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Squat 

  • 282.5 kg (622.8 lbs)
  • 295 kg (650.4 lbs)
  • 300 kg (661.4 lbs)

Jonathan Cayco has a heavier Competition PR squat of 305 kg (672.4 lbs), which he did at the 2021 USAPL Iron Office Winter Classic.

Bench Press

  • 227.5 kg (501.6 lbs)
  • 235.5 kg (519.2 lbs)
  • 240.5 kg (530 lbs) American Record & Unofficial IPF World Record 

Jonathan Cayco has a heavier Competition PR bench press of 242.5 kg (534.6 lbs), which he did at the 2021 USAPL Iron Office Winter Classic.

Deadlift 

  • 327.5 kg (722 lbs)
  • 342.5 kg (755 lbs)
  • 347.5 kg (766 lbs) New All-Time PR

Total – 888 kg (1957.5 lbs) American Record & Unofficial IPF World Record 

Jonathan Cayco has a higher competition PR total of 892.5 kg (1967.6 lbs), which he did at the 2021 USAPL Iron Office Winter Classic.

Jonathan Cayco started competing in 2015 and has taken part in 13 sanctioned competitions overall. He has won 9 of them, most notably the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships. Jonathan also won the USAPL Raw Nationals twice and came out victorious in the prestigious 2021 USAPL Iron Office Winter Classic competition. With his recent win in the 2022 AMP Classic Open Nationals, Jonathan is now a 3x American National Champion. 

Jonathan Cayco looks to defend his title at the 2022 IPF World Championships, which will take place from June 6-12, 2022, in Sun City, South Africa. If Cayco wins his second consecutive world title, he will definitely become one of the most dominant powerlifters in history. He definitely is on a mission to put on huge numbers at an upcoming show.
