Jimmy Kolb has reclaimed his Equipped Bench Press All-Time World Record just 3 months after losing it. Furthermore, it is unlikely that anyone will come close to him this time, as he broke the previous record by 190.1 lbs (86.2 kg). Jimmy took part in the 2022 IPA Pennsylvania State Powerlifting Championships held on Feb. 26-27, 2022, in York, PA. His recent lift came out to be a mind-boggling 598.7 kg (1,320 lbs) bench press.

Jimmy Kolb weighed in at 315 lbs and used a multi-ply bench shirt. His bench press also marks the Heaviest Lift Of All-Time (Squat, Bench, and Deadlift) in powerlifting history. The previous heaviest lift was Nathan Baptist’s 595 kg (1,311.7 lbs) Equipped Squat. Nathan set it at the 2021 UPA Utah Kick Off Meet.

The History Of The Bench Press Record

Until November 20th, 2021, the Record was owned by Jimmy, as he pressed 508 kg (1,120 lbs). It was then broken by Tiny Meeker, who lifted 510.2 kg (1,124.8 lbs). Not long after, the record was claimed by Bill Gillespie with a 512.5 kg (1,129.9 lbs) lift at the 2022 365Strong New Year Power Bash. This record stood for just over a month until Jimmy Kolb demolished it the past weekend.

Both Bill Gillespie and Tiny Meeker congratulated Jimmy on his record, which shows the outstanding personalities they possess.

In recent times, a few athletes had set their sights on a 1,200 lbs bench press, as no one bench pressed that much in history. Jimmy Kolb accomplished the milestone on his first bench press attempt at the 2022 IPA Pennsylvania State Powerlifting Championships. He set his opener lift to 555.7 kg (1,225 lbs). Everyone realized that this was history in the making, but jumping to 1300+ lbs bench press was still unexpected.

Jimmy Kolb shared another video, which states that today marks 2 years since his first 1000+ lbs bench press in competition. At that time, Jimmy pressed 470 kg (1,035 lbs). This means that he improved 129 kg (285 lbs) in the past two years, which is absolutely insane.

Jimmy Kolb is 31-years-old and started competing in 2009. He has always been excellent at the bench press event, but only got to the World Record numbers in the past 2 years. This is definitely only the beginning of his domination, and it will be exciting to see how far he can push the limits.
