Powerlifter Jessica Buettner is getting a hold of things as her next competition comes closer. She is fine-tuning the little details in training, which took her squat abilities to a whole new level. In a training session on April 30th, Jessica Buettner claimed a massive 220 kg (485 lbs) squat PR. Not only is it her new PR, but Jessica’s lift is also an Unofficial IPF World Record in the 76 kg weight class. She only used a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps, making her lift raw.
Jessica Buettner absolutely demolished the current record, which is also claimed by her. Jessica set the current IPF World Record at the 2021 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships by squatting 210.5 kg (464 lbs). So Jessica’s new PR is 9.5 kg (21 lbs) heavier than the record.
Jessica Buettner also had the honor of setting her new PR in front of the 4x Mr. Olympia, Jay Cutler. Jay was visibly impressed while watching Jessica Buettner’s final warm-up of 217.5 kg (479.5 lbs). He also shared her new PR on his Instagram stories, and simply stated “Easy”.
You can watch Jessica Buettner’s squat PR here:
“I had two squat singles to do NOT at RPE 10, which is why I only went up 2.5kgs on the second. VERY HARD to ignore the urge to load 500lbs, but I didn’t want to overdo it… I will say this is the easiest a squat PR has ever felt, and I regret not loading 4 reds.”
