Reigning four-time Classic Physique Olympia champion Chris Bumstead is planning to leave no doubt in the minds of judges when he competes in under two months. Taking to Instagram on September 11, 2023, ‘Cbum’ showed off his latest physique update in prep for the upcoming Olympia contest.

After Breon Ansley relinquished the Classic Physique Olympia throne in 2019, Bumstead hasn’t missed a beat in pursuit of the sport’s most coveted prize. With a commanding X-frame, V-taper, and dense muscularity, Bumstead has extended his reign atop the division with little resistance, having claimed a total of four Classic Physique Olympia titles.

The Canadian native’s journey in the IFBB Pro League has resonated with fans on a deep level, as Bumstead is known for opening up about his struggles and mental hardships on his personal YouTube channel. With the constant fear of failure looming over his career, Bumstead has been candid about where his headspace lies.

In early September, the 28-year-old had revealed that his 2023 Mr. Olympia prep was one of the most difficult and indicated that personal matters have weighed on his mind as of late. Even though he’s approached the subject of retirement on several occasions, right now, it appears the bodybuilding star’s primary focus is shocking the world with his best look yet in just seven weeks.

It’s been a trying few months for Bumstead. Last year, he was tasked with competing at 2022 Olympia with a torn bicep. Adding to his list of challenges, his brother-in-law Iain Valliere decided to stop coaching him. While he joined Rambod last year for a 12-week training camp, fans are dying to see what Bumstead presents under a full season with the decorated bodybuilding coach.

On September 7, Iain Valliere officially announced his retirement from competitive bodybuilding. It remains to be seen if the two will rejoin for Bumstead’s Olympia prep, but it’s safe to say the four-time champion has had a lot on his mind.

Having just opened the ‘Bum Lifting Club,’ a private gym where Bumstead intends to train, the superstar will aim to advance his physique in privacy, further adding mystery to the potential package he plans to display in just a few weeks.

For Bumstead to claim a fifth Classic Physique Olympia title, he will need to once again dismiss the ambitious goals of last year’s third-place finisher Urs Kalecinski, and runner-up Ramon Rocha Queiroz.
