American bodybuilder Carlos Thomas Jr. has been away from the competitive stage for a while now. Since he won his pro card at the 2021 NPC National championship, he has been working silently on his physique, waiting for the best moment to make his pro debut. He stood out at the NPC Championship because of the roundness and fullness he carries in his arms and legs. However, things did not go as planned for Thomas, as he had to cancel his initial objective of making his pro debut at the New York Pro back in May 2023.

A few weeks before the competition, Thomas revealed on his Instagram that he will not be able to participate in the contest due to severe issues with his ulcerative colitis. Writing about this in the caption, he disclosed:

“Unfortunately, i’ve been dealing with some severe issues related to my ulcerative colitis that has made it impossible for my body to respond in the way that i need it to in order to compete.”

Carlos also decided to make a guest-posing appearance not too long ago at the Victor Martinez Legends Championship. His physique garnered a great deal of praise from seasoned bodybuilders, including Derek Lunsford. While guest posing, Thomas Jr. really caught the eye with his powerful poses. His front-double bicep pose was just impressive, and his side view showed off his solid physique too. Notably, Thomas Jr. carries fantastic size and conditioning in his back and legs, which is a real standout.

After he showed up as a guest poser, people are talking about how Thomas Jr.’s look is similar to Lunsford and Jacked. Some even say they see a hint of Hunter Labrada when they watch Thomas Jr. perform on stage. If this is true, Thomas Jr. is definitely someone to keep an eye on in the division.

Carlos looks ready for his pro debut in a recent physique update

Carlos Thomas Jr. is all set to make his first pro appearance at the Texas Pro, which will be held in Arlington, Texas on August 18th and 19th. With the likes of Hunter Labrada and Andrew Jacked participating in the contest, Carlos needs this win desperately in order to step on the Mr. Olympia stage. Fortunately, Thomas is not taking any pressure about this, as he seems confident that he will overpower both Labrada and Jacked. But as per his own words, if he can’t secure a victory at Texas Pro, he’s thinking about stepping back for the rest of the season.

This is like what many new talents in the division do. Michal Krizo and Andrew Jacked quickly rose and got into Olympia in a year. Derek Lunsford also moved from Men’s 212 to Open Bodybuilding and came in second to Hadi Choopan last year.

Recently, Corey Brown, who works closely with Carlos Thomas, posted a video of Thomas where he displayed his current conditioning. Thomas looked enormous in size, with the perfect blend of vascularity and conditioning. As Carlos carries a small waist and a perfect V-Taper look, it appears that his time off from the stage and his intense training have paid off.
