Brian Le’s Performance at the 2023 Powerlifting America (AMP) Classic Open Nationals was nothing short of phenomenal. The event, which took place on February 24-26, in Austin, Texas, saw Brian post the greatest performance of his career, culminating in two new Unofficial IPF Raw World Records in the deadlift and total events. Here is how his performance went.

Squat

Firstly, Brian Le encountered some trouble with an unsuccessful attempt at 242.5 kilograms (534.6 pounds). However, he redeemed himself with a successful third attempt, managing to lift the weight he previously had failed. This set him up very nicely for his bench press.

  • 227.5 kilograms (501.6 pounds)
  • Unsuccsessful — 242.5 kilograms (534.6 pounds)
  • 242.5 kilograms (534.6 pounds)

Bench Press

Brian performed well on the bench press, lifting 147.5 kilograms (325.2 pounds) and 152.5 kilograms (336.2 pounds). However, it was his deadlift that really stole the show.

  • 147.5 kilograms (325.2 pounds)
  • 152.5 kilograms (336.2 pounds)

Deadlift

With his deadlift, Brian Le set a new Unofficial IPF Raw World Record. His first attempt was a successful lift of 295.5 kilograms (651.5 pounds), which was already an impressive feat. But he didn’t stop there. For his second attempt, Brian lifted an astounding 307.5 kilograms (677.9 pounds), already unofficially breaking the IPF Raw World Record of 300 kilograms (661.4 pounds). This record is held by Senumong Kasemsand, having set it at the 2022 Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships.

However, Brian Le was not content with just breaking the record. He went on to make his third attempt, lifting an incredible 318.5 kilograms (702.2 pounds), further proving his dominance.

  • 295.5 kilograms (651.5 pounds)
  • 307.5 kilograms (677.9 pounds)
  • 318.5 kilograms (702.2 pounds) — Unofficial IPF World Record & Competition PR

Total

But Brian Le’s feats did not end there. His deadlift performance also helped him set a new Unofficial IPF Raw World Record in the total event, which is the combined total weight lifted in all three events (squat, bench press, and deadlift). Brian’s total weight lifted was an incredible 713.5 kilograms (1,573 pounds), unofficially surpassing the IPF Raw World Record of Senumong Kasemsand, who totaled 710.5 kilograms (1,566.3 pounds) at the 2022 Asian Classic Powerlifting Championships.
