Egypt’s Hassan Mostafa is ready to make a statement on the 2023 Mr. Olympia stage in less than four weeks. The surging Men’s Open contender took to YouTube on October 5, 2023, to show off a full day of eating in preparation for the marquee event.
“Five weeks left until Mr. Olympia. Everything is right on point so far, Alhamdullah prep is going very well. Everything I’m showing is what I’m currently eating at the moment. The diet plan is bar far the best for me, it’s giving me a lot of power in training and overall I’m enjoying it more,” shared Hassan Mostafa.
Mostafa’s breakout season in the IFBB Pro League came last year when he secured gold at two consecutive contests: the 2022 Puerto Rico Pro and the Orlando Pro which he accomplished with a combination of dry conditioning and freaky full muscle volume.
While all signs pointed to Hassan Mostafa making his way to the 2022 Mr. Olympia contest, misfortune struck and he was forced to remove his name from the event. He explained that a virus compromised his kidneys, and felt it would further risk his health by committing to another show.
With time to heal, Mostafa made up for the lost time and battled Iain Valliere at the 2023 Toronto Pro Supershow, but took second place. After taking silver at the Orlando Pro as well, it was looking like Mostafa might not qualify for Olympia, but that all changed with a career-best package at July’s 2023 Vancouver Pro. Now, with momentum, Mostafa is eyeing the sport’s most prominent stage next month.
Hassan Mostafa Shares 2023 Mr. Olympia Contest Prep Diet
Meal 1
- 4 egg whites
- 2 whole eggs
- Asparagus
- 155 grams of Bison 10% fat
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
“I recently sent an update to Chad and he’s happy with the progress so far. Just as planned! It’s the first time I try bison once I came to Canada and I really like its flavor, I definitely prefer it.”
Meal 2
- 175 grams white fish
- half an avocado
- vegetables (red bell peppers, cucumbers)
- 1/4 teaspoon of salt
“It’s going well [my appetite]. No not at all [I’m not sick of the diet], thankfully enjoying it all, didn’t get to that point yet.”
“Sometimes I add spices and sometimes I add Siracha sauce. But when I add spices, it can burn at times,” Mostafa shared. “You can substitute it [fish] with shrimp. Yes [macros are similar to white fish] or egg whites. Yes so if someone wants something with less calories they can have white fish, shrimp, or egg whites.”
When asked about protein sources for beginners in fitness and bodybuilding, Mostafa had the following to say:
“If someone is just eating healthy as a lifestyle, they don’t have to restrict themselves so much, they can change it up so they don’t get bored of the food. They can choose from meat, chicken, and fish, it all depends on their goal. If the person wants to cut down, they just have to eat less food.”
“The person won’t compete on stage tomorrow, so it doesn’t matter as much, all he wants is to lose fat so you can do that with just lowering the quantity of food. You can do that wish fish or any other protein source.
“So in summary, any protein source is great it just all depends on the goal, you increase the food if you want to add muscle mass and you decrease the amount if you want to lose fat.”
Meal 3
- 155 grams of beef
- 2 whole eggs
- 3 egg whites
- asparagus
“As you can see all my meals are very similar, meal two and four are the same, meal one and three are the same. Whoever is in this sport but doesn’t like a routine it’ll be hard to keep going because everything in this lifestyle is repetitive, similar food and similar training and similar cardio routines. Food might increase or decrease, but it’s still relatively the same. Many people might not like routine, but personally, I love a good routine. I like everything I do in my day,” said Mostafa.
Meal 4
- 175 grams of white fish
- salad mix
- vegetables (red bell pepper)
- half an avocado
Meal 5
- 2 scoops of protein
“Olympia is in five weeks so I hope I place well.”
The steady improvements of Mostafa caught the attention of bodybuilding legend, former four-time Mr. Olympia titleholder Jay Cutler recently. According to Cutler, at one point, he thought of Mostafa ‘as the most muscular bodybuilder on the planet.’
The 2023 Mr. Olympia will feature a historic lineup of talent, and with Mamdouh “Big Ramy” Elssbiay out of the picture, Mostafa will be Egypt’s only representative storming the stage in hopes of becoming the next champion.
