Social media sensation Joey Swoll has been leading the movement against the rise of toxic gym culture. In a recent post made on TikTok, Swoll took issue with a female TikToker named Gwinie_the_pooh for mocking an old man who was working out at the gym.
With the growth of social media platforms like TikTok, there has also been a rise in poor gym etiquette that tends to go viral. Fitness influencer Joey Swoll made a name for himself by calling out people that insult others at the gym while they try to work out.
A female user made headlines for getting into a heated argument with a staff member at a gym last June. She accused the worker of being a pervert and for staring at her while she took her top off to work out in a sports bra. Swoll argued against her based on the footage she provided online. He called on her to think about the consequences of making such serious allegations against an innocent person.
Swoll boasts a massive following of over 6.2 million followers on TikTok and promotes a positive message about making gyms friendlier places. He criticized another TikTok ‘Karen’ who lambasted another gym-goer for leaving the squat rack he was using unattended for a few minutes. In another instance, Swoll took issue with a man who bashed a bodybuilder for posing shirtless.
A few months ago, a female TikToker was on the receiving end of Swoll’s tirade when she taunted a fellow gym-goer for grunting while lifting heavy weights. He encouraged her to create a safe space for everyone at the gym instead of making fun of others.
Joey Swoll loses it on a female TikToker for making fun of an older man in the gym
In a recent TikTok, Joey Swoll criticized female TikToker @gwinie_the_pooh for ridiculing the way an older man worked out at the gym.
“So now we are making fun of the way an elderly man works out? Really?” said Swoll. “You should be ashamed of yourself and we wonder why so many people want filming banned in all gyms. I’ll tell you what was pretty cool though, to see the comments on that post, all the people defending that man and telling you to leave him alone as you should.
“To this young woman, you owe that man an apology and I really hope you’re accountable enough to do so. Otherwise, your gym should kick your a** out. You need to do better. Mind your own business.”

It appears that the user has since deleted the account following Swoll’s video.
Last month, Swoll expressed his disapproval over a video shared by another female TikToker, Jessica Fernandez, who hurled insults at a man that offered to help her add weights to a barbell. She also claimed he was ogling her and went as far as to call him ‘feral.’ Swoll was critical of her trying to paint herself as the victim in the situation.

Fernandez realized her mistake and issued an apology shortly after Swoll uploaded the video. As for Swoll, he plans to continue spreading positivity in gyms and fitness centers.
