It has only been a few days since Max Shethar grabbed the headlines after he set a massive 710-pound (322-kilogram) raw squat two-rep PR and he now appears in a competition in an attempt to test his progress. His recent performances in training did look extremely impressive, but Max brought a brand new level of physical shape to the 2022 USAPL All Valley Raw Championships, which took place on October 22nd in Bozeman, Montana. Shethar competed in the raw +140KG weight class and scored multiple PRs.
Having turned 20 years old recently, this was Max Shethar’s first appearance in the Juniors age class. He had an incredible career as a Teen, but now is the time to dominate the Juniors as well. His performance will be no different once he becomes accustomed to his new-age class.
Max Shethar opened his performance with a squat masterclass, which saw him score a brand new 342.5-kilogram (755-pound) PR. He only used a lifting belt, knee sleeves, and wrist wraps, which helped him make the squat look effortless. Max also weighed in at 145.6 kilograms (321 pounds).
Max Shethar scored another raw competition PR in the bench press event, having locked out 210 kilograms (463 pounds) on his heaviest attempt. This lift was raw as well, as Max only utilized wrist wraps to aid him in the lift.
“463lbs/210kg Bench, 5lbs meet PR. Really happy with the consistency of progress on bench the last couple of training blocks👍”
A deadlift was the final event of the meeting, which is typically where Max Shethar demonstrates his maximum strength and skill. However, his heaviest successful lift of 330 kilograms (727.5 pounds) was not enough to eclipse his previous competition PR of 365 kilograms (804.7 pounds). Max did attempt to deadlift 355 kilograms (783 pounds), but the bar slipped from his hands just before locking it out.
Max Shethar’s Full Performance
Squat: 342.5 kilograms (755 pounds) — New PR
Bench Press: 210 kilograms (463 pounds) — New Competition PR
Deadlift: 330 kilograms (727.5 pounds)
Total: 882.5 kilograms (1,945.6 pounds)

“To everyone reminding me to struggle, did too good of a job on this one lol.”
This was Max Shethar’s 11th sanctioned powerlifting competition and he still held on to his 100% win streak.

Max Shethar’s performance at the 2022 USAPL All Valley Raw Championships is very promising, since his squat and bench have progressed quite significantly. Although it would have been even better if Max had completed his final deadlift event successfully, he will certainly strive to improve on this, as it is one of his strongest events.
