It is important to note that both the individual and team divisions will suffer one lineup cut before the start of the last day. So, on Sunday, August 7th, the individual divisions (men’s and women’s) will be cut from 40 to 30 athletes, while the team division will be cut from 38 to 20. CrossFit did this because they wanted the divisions to become a bit more interesting on the final day, but still, give everyone a chance to show themselves on the first few days.

Tia-Clair Toomey and Justin Medeiros were the winners last year and they are coming in hot once again. Both won their respective semifinals and quarterfinals, so they are looking to defend their titles as well. If Tia-Clair becomes the Fittest Woman On Earth® once again, she will break the record for most wins by any CrossFit athlete in history, regardless of the division. Toomey is currently sharing the top spot with Mat Fraser, as both have five victories under their belts.
