CrossFit Games veteran, Noah Ohlsen, is one of the favorites to become the Fittest Man On Earth® this year. He already placed second in the 2019 CrossFit Games, so winning is the only way to surpass that. Noah is completely focused on getting ready and does everything he can to prepare. Buttery Bros now joined Noah Ohlsen for a training session and shared it on their YouTube channel.

Despite it being a relatively light workout, Buttery Bros got a lot of information out of Noah Ohlsen. Noah talked about his training, life, and potential retirement. However, the 2022 CrossFit Games are currently the most important for him, as it will be his ninth consecutive performance. Noah has less than a month to prepare, as the Games will take place from Aug.3-7, 2022, in Madison, WI.

Training Session

The training Noah Ohlsen has done over the last month has left his body feeling the effects. However, a few deload training sessions can get Noah back to his best shape, as he will be fully rested. That being said, Noah wanted to do a harder session because of the Buttery Bros visit, but he felt that explaining a deload session could help many people in their approach to training.

“I looked at it and immediately was like, I will bump that up to this’, especially because you guys are here… You could even use it as an educational piece for people out there that you gotta do what’s right for your body.”

The first exercise Noah Ohlsen and Butter Bros performed were snatch pulls, three sets of three reps, loaded with 255 pounds (115.7 kilograms). Noah also gave some advice, which he is currently focusing on as well.

“One is like bracing my belly, and then also just being a little bit more patient and slower on that first pull, and really really extending through the hips.”

The group followed this up with a 135-pound (61.2-kilogram) cleans, which was extremely light for them. Noah wrapped this exercise up with a very impressive backflip.

As Noah Ohlsen and Buttery Bros fired up their muscles, it was time for their first EMOM (Every Minute On The Minute) workout. This one was a lightweight, but high-tension deadlift with resistance bands. They added some accessory work, which were back extensions.

The trio then went outside to train in the beautiful and sunny setup. They completed two more EMOMs, which were as follows:

Part One (12 minutes)

  • 45 Sec. Row
  • 10 Toes to Bar
  • 10 Strict Pull-ups
  • 30 Sec. L-Sit Hang

Part Two (12 minutes)

  • 45 Sec. Bike
  • 10 Strict Press (Overhead)
  • 10 Bench Press
  • 20 Sec. L-Sit Hold

Following the workouts, Noah Ohlsen discussed the upcoming CrossFit Games and his future plans. Noah also hinted at retirement from Individual CrossFit in two years.

“I set the number 10 as a goal of mine, to compete 10 consecutive years as an individual. As we got a little closer to that with this being year nine, you know I’m not super beat up. Like I’m still pretty healthy… I’ll go all in for these next two years, call it, and move on to another adventure.”

Noah Ohlsen and Buttery Bros concluded their workouts for the day with a walk on the beach, but did wear weighted vests.

Noah Ohlsen also performed the hot-cold treatment with the help of a sauna and a pool. With only a few weeks left to train, these deload training sessions are essential for Noah Ohlsen. Even judging by the lighter workout, Noah still looks to be in a very good shape physically.
