The phrase “age is just a number” has some truth to it, as Rudy Kadlub is living proof of it. The 73-year-old is aging like fine wine and is getting significantly better as time passes. Rudy is notable for his incredible lower-body power, which greatly influences his deadlift and squat results. Rudy’s prep for his next competition is coming to an end, and he is now testing his strength in training. On May 17, 2022, Rudy hit a massive 454-pound (206-kilogram) squat and shared it on his Instagram.
Rudy Kadlub has outperformed the Masters 70-74 IPL World Record with his recent squat, but since he did it in training, this lift cannot be deemed as official. So it is characterized as a U100KG Masters 70-74 Unofficial IPL Squat (With Wraps) World Record. Rudy holds the current official record, having squatted 451.9 pounds (205 kilograms) at the 2021 IPL Drug Tested World Championship.
Rudy Kadlub used knee wraps, lifting belt, and wrist wraps to aid him in the lift. He has also announced an Official IPL World Record attempt in roughly two weeks. Rudy will try to accomplish that at the 2022 USPA Drug Tested National Championships, which will take place from May 27-31, in Atalanta, Georgia.
You can watch the lift here:
“Home stretch to USPA Drug-tested Nationals in 2️⃣ weeks. First time using a squat bar since last November’s World Championships… Looking to break my world record at this meet, so I took 454 for a spin tonight (WR+1kg) as a confidence builder and what will likely be my second attempt.”

Rudy Kadlub has explained that the 454-pound (206-kilogram) will most likely be his second attempt at the 2022 USPA Nationals, as he felt comfortable doing it in training. So if everything goes as planned, Rudy could break the record by a significant margin on his third attempt.
Rudy is a serial winner, so if he wins the 2022 USPA Nationals, it will be his 32nd career win. Until now, he has taken part in 37 sanctioned competitions, and won all but six of them. Impressively, Rudy Kadlub has started competing at 57-years-old, so he has built the entirety of his impressive resume since then.
