Larry Wheels is known for his desire of breaking records, especially his personal ones. He possesses the mentality of always striving for more, which allowed him to build an impressive career. We are used to seeing Larry lift some massive weight, but every once in a while he posts some extraordinary and mind-blowing numbers. This was the case with Larry’s 661 lbs/300 kg paused bench press PR from two years ago.

On April 3rd, Larry Wheels shared the throwback of the incredible feat of strength on his Instagram account.  Larry executed the 661 lbs (300 kg) bench press with a long 3-4 second pause. He also did so by only using wrist wraps and elbow wraps. Furthermore, the lift did not even look to be too taxing for Larry, and it looks like he could be joining the exclusive 700 lbs bench press club soon.

You can watch the lift here:

Larry Wheels has had a lot of stuff going on lately. Primarily, he won the $10,000 boxing bet against Eddie Hall regarding the ‘Heaviest Boxing Match In History’. Larry was also a part of the arm-wrestling event called King Of The Table 3 on April 2nd, 2022. His opponent was the rising MMA and arm wrestling sensation, Khaled Jashell. Larry got into an early lead, but ultimately lost the match with a score of 4-1.

Larry Wheels Career Achievements

Larry’s powerlifting experience has had a big influence in his success, which includes the recent 661 lbs (300 kg) bench press PR. He is the all-time greatest powerlifter in the 140 kg weight class, having claimed the raw bench press and total World Records. Larry took part in a total of 16 sanctioned powerlifting competitions and won 11 of them.

Through powerlifting Larry gained some serious strength, so he temporarily switched to bodybuilding and quickly found success. In 2018, Larry managed to win his first bodybuilding show, which was the NPC Gold Coast Muscle Classic in California.

Larry Wheels has also dabbled a bit in the sport of Strongman, as he is a very good friend to Hafthor Björnsson. ‘The Mountain’ recently gave Larry a bench press challenge, which required him to rep out 440 lbs.

Larry has been focusing a lot on arm-wrestling recently, and although he has made some significant improvements, his abilities are not yet enough to compete against the best in the world.

As per Open Powerlifting, Wheels last competed at the 2020 XPC Arnold powerlifting contest. In that competition he scored his best in the following:

  • Squat: 394.6 kgs (870 lbs)
  • Deadlift: 387.2 kg (855 lbs)
  •  Bench press: 293 kg (645 lbs) All-time world record raw
  •  Total: 1,075 kgs (2,370 lbs) – Career-best
  • DOT: 603.87

Larry is amongst the select few people in the world who can bench 300 kg (661 lbs) but is carrying less weight than the majority of others.
