Jesus Olivares has been on fire recently, which proves that he is one of the greatest natural powerlifters currently. Olivares seems hungry to break multiple IPF World Records this year, as he is regularly beating his PRs in training. Just 3 days ago, he posted a huge squat PR, which shocked everyone. However, on March 3rd, 2022, Jesus Olivares posted his new deadlift PR of 402.5 kg (887 lbs) on Instagram. This deadlift is also the Unofficial IPF World Record in the 120+ kg weight class.

Olivares has pulled 402.5 kg (887 lbs) with insane speed, so it looks like he can lift even more. Olivares deadlifts with a conventional stance and a mixed grip. Furthermore, he only used a lifting belt, making this lift completely raw. The current IPF World Record Deadlift in the 120+ kg weight class is held by Ray Williams. He pulled 398.5 kg (878.5 lbs) at the 2018 IPF World Classic Powerlifting Championships.

Jesus Olivares will take part in the 2022 Powerlifting America Classic (Raw) Open Nationals, from April 1-3, 2022, in Austin, TX. There are roughly 4 weeks left to prepare, and it looks like this could be one of Jesus Olivares’ greatest performances yet.

We will get the chance to see how close Jesus Olivares is to the IPF Total World Record, which is also currently claimed by Ray Williams. Ray totaled 1105 kg (2436.1 lbs) at the 2017 NAPF Arnold Slingshot Pro American. Olivares has not posted a bench press update in a while, so it is hard to assume where he stands at the moment.

Jesus Olivares Career

Jesus Olivares also plans to compete at the 2022 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships. This competition is scheduled for June 06-12, 2022, in Sun City, South Africa. Olivares still has a few months to train and improve his chances of beating the records. Furthermore, he will also attempt to defend his title, as he won the 120+ kg weight class of 2021 IPF World Classic Open Powerlifting Championships.

Apart from being the World Champion, Jesus Olivares is also a 2021 USAPL Raw Nationals winner. This displays how successful of a career he has built despite being only 23-years-old. Olivares also had a very successful career in his early teen years, but took a break between the ages of 15-19.

Jesus Olivares’ official (done in competition) PRs:

  • Squat: 427.5 kg (942.5 lbs) (2021 IPF World Championships)
  • Bench Press: 252.5 kg (556.7 lbs) (2021 IPF World Championships)
  • Deadlift: 400 kg (881.8 lbs) (2020 Collegiate Cup and Texas Open)
  • Total: 1055 kg (2325.9 lbs) (2020 Collegiate Cup and Texas Open)

Jesus Olivares’ recent 402.5 kg (887 lbs) deadlift is an improvement after a long time. He stated that he “fought tooth and nail for 15 months to finally surpass the 400 kg barrier.”
