The 2023 CrossFit Games took place from August 1-6, marking the final year in Madison, Wisconsin. Therefore, dozens of athletes and teams joyfully came to compete in the sunny weather. In the ultimate quest to be crowned the Fittest Woman, Man, and Team on Earth, the athletes underwent a series of twelve grueling workouts, expertly crafted to push their physical and mental boundaries to the absolute limit.

The Fittest Man On Earth title was given to Jeffrey Adler, who pulled off an insane comeback after a shaky day one at the 2023 CrossFit Games. He ended up winning the title by a significant point margin, proving that he is the greatest by a mile.

Laura Horvath’s performance at the 2023 CrossFit Games was nothing short of spectacular as well, since she won multiple events and outperformed some of the fittest women alive. For that, she was crowned as the 2023 CrossFit Games Champion and Fittest Woman On Earth.

Men’s Results

On the final day, Jeffrey Adler continued to perform just as he had on day three, finally breaking through to first place overall. This happened after he won the Muscle-Up Logs workout, while Roman Khrennikov finished a few places lower. So, after ten of the 2023 CrossFit Games workouts were completed, Jeffrey finally put on the white leader’s jersey.

Laura Horvath severed Emma Lawson’s overall lead in half with her fourth workout victory at the 2023 CrossFit Games competition. Like all of her other victories, Laura made sure to be dominant and win in style. Apart from Alex Gazan and Arielle Loewen, no other woman even finished within a minute of Laura.

Men’s Results

Brent Fikowski won the penultimate event of the 2023 CrossFit Games and grabbed 100 points, which marked the eighth CrossFit Games win in his career. Patrick Vellner was right on Fikowski’s heels, as he finished just four seconds after him. So, two of the most technical athletes came out on top significantly ahead of the rest.

Men’s Results

Dallin Pepper and Samuel Kwant were the only two men to finish the circuit in under seven minutes, but Dallin managed to edge out Samuel by just four seconds to win max points.

A bit further back was Jeffrey Adler who took fifth place, but was crowned as the 2023 CrossFit Games champion and the Fittest Man On Earth. At the end of the event, Jeffrey approached the injured Roman Khrennikov to hug him, since these two men were battling for the top spot across all four days.

Jelle Hoste took a smart approach to the 5k run since he let other people lead the race for 15 minutes, before making a late charge for the win. Everyone was left stunned by how much energy Jelle still had at that point. So, no one managed to match his speed and he ended up winning the workout.

This turned out to be half a minute faster than any other woman, but also quicker than many of the men, including the 2x champion Justin Medeiros.

He then casually walked over the finish line, aware that he was almost 30 seconds faster than the second place finisher.

Being only 21-years-old, Jack still has a lot to learn in CrossFit, but this proves that he has potential to reach the top.

CrossFit Invictus claimed a second consecutive workout victory, as nothing could slow them down, not even the 1,188-pound sled under the extremely hot conditions. While the initial Bob push left many other teams stunned, CrossFit Invictus appeared to breeze through it without any sign of fatigue. Even after this event, while many others were on their knees, members of CrossFit Invictus had nothing but smiles on their faces.

CrossFit Oslo Navy Blue emerged victorious on the final event of day three under the commanding lead of Lena Richter. Since every exercise had to be performed in synchronization between all four athletes, Lena made sure to give loud cues and help her teammates. Consequently, they finished approximately 30 seconds before the next fastest team.

The heat caused some trouble on the first event of 2023 CrossFit Games Day Two, but Roman Khrennikov did not want to stop for anything until the finish line. So, he claimed his second workout victory at this competition already and made another step towards the title.

Colten Mertens came out as the biggest surprise on day two of the 2023 CrossFit Games, having claimed his first event victory ever. He did not pause for even a second throughout the entire event, which not many athletes managed to do.

While all other women struggled to complete the entire workout before the 6-minute time cap ran out, Laura Horvath managed to finish it in just four and a half minutes. This left everyone in awe and served as a statement that Laura came to win the title.

Jeffrey Adler picked up the speed immediately off the gate and finished as the only man with a sub eight minute time. This moved him up the leaderboard, as he finished day two in second place. Thus, he remained the biggest threat for Roman Khrennikov for the remainder of the competition.

Jamie Simmonds won the event with an incredible time, but the real battle in this event went on between Alexis Raptis, Emma Lawson, and Laura Horvath. They were all hoping to land decent points, which would help them take over the overall top spot at the end of day two. The 18-year-old Emma Lawson walked away the happiest, as her fifth place finish was enough to make her the overall leader.

All Teams ran at the same time, but only CrossFit Trondheim realized that getting an early lead and separating from the crowd was the right move. Having gained a lead over everyone, they maintained it until the finish line. They didn’t even let anyone get close to pushing them off the top spot.

CrossFit East Nashville PRVN closed out day two of the 2023 CrossFit Games with a dominating event win. No one was on their level for this event, mostly due to Tim Paulson, who performed brilliantly on the assault bicycle. However, the other members of the team had given their all, and their collective work was awarded with 100 points.

Women’s Results

Emma Lawson crushed her opponents on the Bike workout by separating herself from the pack early on and holding out until the end of the race. She ended up with multiple cramps in her legs, but it was worth it for 100 points. This was also her first CrossFit Games workout victory ever.

Jonne was seen hydrating throughout the race and utilizing other athletes to break the air drag for him, proving how strategic this event was.

Although other athletes displayed great endurance, Laura Horvath’s sheer power proved to be the edge she needed to win the event. She was not near the top throughout the event, but overtook everyone with on the final ten Pig Flips.

Despite placing relatively poorly on the first two events, Danielle Brandon crushed the third event with perfect technique. Any mistake in this event meant starting over, but Danielle performed every movement amazingly.

Starting every 2 minutes:

  • 12/9-calorie SkiErg each (M/F)
  • 1 seated legless rope climb each (M/F)
  • Max-reps synchro overhead squats

When 2 minutes are up, the first pair stops working and returns while the second pair begins working.

Each pair will have 4 intervals to work (8 total intervals).

Results

The teams were taken aback by how challenging their first workout was because nobody was able to finish it within the given time cap. However, CF Mayhem Independence came from behind and were the closest out of everyone to the finish. They only needed to complete 43 more repetitions to complete the event.

The bike race proved to be an exciting workout for the Teams as it did for the Individuals. Multiple Teams started their 18th lap when the 40-minute time cap ran out. So, it became a race to the finish line, and CrossFit Oslo Navy Blue were the fastest.
