Day one of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man turned out to be a massive success, as the finals are still a possible outcome for many. The 2022 WSM is running from May 24 – 29, in Sacramento, Ca. Day two of qualifying featured the Car Walk and Log Lift events, which were a ‘make or break’ for many competitors.

Coming into day two of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man, Evan Singleton turned out to be the first and only victim. He was forced to withdraw after suffering an injury on the first event. However, Evan unexpectedly came back to compete on day two of 2022 World’s Strongest Man after his doctor allowed it. The leaders of each group from day one all took maximum points by winning both the Loading Race and Deadlift Ladder.

There were a lot of impressive performances on day two of 2022 World’s Strongest Man. Although there is no live stream, Fitnessvolt brings you live updates, recaps, score standings, and results about WSM.

2022 World’s Strongest Man Day Two Event Recap & Results

Car Walk

The third event of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man was the old-school Car Walk. The competitors had to pick up and carry the car for the length of 20 meters. The car weighed approximately 950 pounds (430 kilograms), while the time cap for this event was 60 seconds. However, the goal was to finish it as quickly as possible.

Group 1

  1. Tom Stoltman — 0:14.65s / 6 points
  2. Gabriel Rheaume — 0:16.44s / 5 points
  3. Kevin Faires — 0:19.32s / 4 points
  4. Aivars Smaukstelis — 0:19.91s / 3 points
  5. Andy Black — 0:32.71s / 2 points
  6. Manuel Angulo — 1:00:00 / 1 point

Tom Stoltman continued where he left off, having won the first event of the second day, as he was two seconds faster than his closest rival. Gabriel Rheaume finished in second place, and came one point closer to Kevin Faires on the overall rankings. Aivars missed out on beating Faires by just half a second, which would have been very beneficial for him.

Group 2

  1. Mitchell Hooper — 0:11.64s / 6 points
  2. Mark Felix — 0:13.96 / 5 points
  3. Bobby Thompson — 0:16.05s / 4 points
  4. Konstantine Janashia — 0:18.16s / 3 points
  5. Brian Shaw — 0:19.97s / 2 points
  6. Gabriel Pena — 19 meters / 1 points

It is incredible to think that Mitchell Hooper only came to compete in the 2022 World’s Strongest Man as a replacement for Rauno Heinla. He has won all three events and no one was even close to beating him in this group. The oldest competitor this year, Mark Felix, also surprised everyone with his blistering speed.

Group 3

  1. Rob Kearney — 0:11.63s / 6 points
  2. Grzegorz Szymanski — 0:14.26s / 5 points
  3. Oleksii Novikov — 0:15.23s / 4 points
  4. Trey Mitchell — 0:19.24s / 3 points
  5. Adam Bishop — 0:23.38s / 2 points
  6. Mika Törrö — 9.5 meters / 1 point

Rob Kearney is the athlete who broke Oleksii Novikov’s win streak from yesterday. Rob absolutely ran with the 950-pound car on his back, which currently puts him in third place overall. Another surprise was Grzegorz Szymanski, as he came second after two consecutive last-place finishes yesterday.

Group 4

  1. Pavlo Kordiyaka — 0:12.92s / 6 points
  2. Martins Licis — 0:18.93s / 5 points
  3. Gavin Bilton — 0:23.67s / 4 points
  4. Maxime Boudreault — 0:49.28s / 3 points
  5. Nedžmin Ambešković — 13.6 meters / 2 points

Pavlo Kordiyaka was dominant in the Car Walk event, having beaten Martins Licis by a staggering six seconds. With the max points from this event, Pavlo overtook Maxime Boudreault, and tied with Gavin Bilton in the overall rankings. Unfortunately, Shane Flowers has withdrawn prior to this event, as he carried an injury from day one of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man.

Group 5

  1. Evan Singleton — 0:09.86s / 6 points
  2. Luke Stoltman — 0:16.65s / 5 points
  3. Eythor Ingolfsson Melsted — 0:29.07s / 4 points
  4. Jean-Stephen Coraboeuf — 0:41.34s / 3 points
  5. Kelvin De Ruiter — 1:00.00 / 2 points
  6. Kim Ujarak — 11.4 meters / 1 point

Evan Singleton won his first event of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man, which starts his chase for the finals. Evan was the only man to perform the Car Walk event in under 11 seconds across all groups. Luke Stoltman finished in a comfortable second place, which was a big step towards officially qualifying for the finals of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man.

Log Lift

The 2022 World’s Strongest Man could not have passed without one of the most classic Strongman events ever. Although there are multiple variations of this event, the one used for this contest was the Log Lift for reps. The log weighed 145 kilograms (320 pounds), while the time cap for performing as many reps as possible stood at 75 seconds. The reps were not counted unless the referee had given the down signal to the athlete.

Group 1

  1. Tom Stoltman — 8 reps / 6 points
  2. Kevin Faires — 7 reps / 5 points
  3. Gabriel Rheaume — 6 reps / 4 points
  4. Aivars Smaukstelis — 4 reps / 3 points
  5. Andy Black — 0 reps / 0 points
  6. Manuel Angulo — 0 reps / 0 points

Tom Stoltman is finishing day two as a winner of every single event in his group so far. He has sits at 24 points overall, and finals seem guaranteed if he remains injury free. However, Kevin Faires and Gabriel Rheaume are in a fascinating battle for the overall second place finish.

Group 2

  1. Bobby Thompson — 8 reps / 6 points
  2. Mitchell Hooper — 7 reps / 4.5 points
  3. Brian Shaw — 7 reps / 4.5 points
  4. Konstantine Janashia — 5 reps / 3 points
  5. Gabriel Pena — 1 rep / 2 points
  6. Mark Felix — 0 reps / 0 points

The Log Lift was the first time that Mitchell Hooper did not win the event in this group. However, he only lost to Bobby Thompson, who is known for log pressing in the excess of 460 pounds. Hooper also shared the second-place points with Brian Shaw, as the both performed 7 repetitions.

Group 3

  1. Oleksii Novikov — 9 reps / 5.5 points
  2. Trey Mitchell — 9 reps / 5.5 points
  3. Adam Bishop — 7 reps / 4 points
  4. Rob Kearney — 6 reps / 3 points
  5. Grzegorz Szymanski — 3 reps / 2 points
  6. Mika Törrö — 2 reps / 1 point

Oleksii Novikov and Trey Mitchell went head-to-head in the Log Lift event of the 2022 World’s Strongest Man, but they ended up tying for first place with nine reps. To qualify for the finals, Novikov needs to win one point tomorrow, assuming he doesn’t get injured. Mitchell, Bishop, and Kearney all finish day 2 with just two points separating them.

Group 4

  1. Maxime Boudreault — 10 reps / 6 points
  2. Martins Licis — 9 reps / 4.5 points
  3. Pavlo Kordiyaka — 9 reps / 4.5 points
  4. Gavin Bilton — 7 reps / 3 points
  5. Nedžmin Ambešković — 2 reps / 2 points

Although 9 repetitions would be good enough to place first in almost any other group, both Martins Licis and Pavlo Kordiyaka had to settle for a second-place finish in group four. They were both outperformed by Maxime Boudreault, as his 10 reps earned him maximum points in this event.

Group 5

  1. Luke Stoltman — 10 reps / 6 points
  2. Eythor Ingolfsson Melsted — 8 reps / 5 points
  3. Jean-Stephen Coraboeuf — 7 reps / 4 points
  4. Kim Ujarak — 6 reps / 3 points
  5. Kelvin De Ruiter — 1 rep / 1.5 points
  6. Evan Singleton — 1 rep / 1.5 points

With yet another win in his group, Luke Stoltman has secured his ticket for the finals based on points. The finals roster is not official yet, but Luke just needs to stay injury free. He can now strategise on the third day of qualifiers for the 2022 World’s Strongest Man, and preserve as much energy as possible for the finals. Melsted and Coraboeuf also secured their second and third place finishes with incredible performances in the Log Lift.
